Group-1: Area of Intervention — 1.1
As we delved deeper in research, we developed a better understanding of the existing system around urban transportation in Bangalore, which largely focuses on public transportation such as buses and metros. While we were documenting and synthesizing our research, we were able to identify a few gaps in the current system.“Gaps” which do not cater to the needs of persons with disability and causes hindrance to performing their daily activity.
We analyzed and mapped the various touchpoints of a PwD in the entire cycle in order to narrow down our interventions.
Then we mapped into System Map. We wrote down different interventions in a circle and then connected each other and understand its relation to each other.

As per India Accessible Campaign — our primary starting points are Built Environment, Transportation and Information System, which were then mapped with different interventions.
From here we came to know that system needs more support — 2 key focus areas were Boarding and De-boarding and Information system.
We think boarding and de-boarding consist mostly related to product based design and the modification of the existing infrastructure has to be done in order to improve the boarding and de-boarding for the People with the disability. Also, the government is also trying to build new infrastructure such as Low floor buses, tactile floors in metro stations.
Another focus area is Information system — after analyzing from the PwDs perspective, information access to transportation is not inclusive.

In the information system, information can be subdivided into signages, digital boards, ticketing system and access information through the mobile app or by talking to people standing on the platforms.

At the available time and information available to us, we would like to focus on Information System while accessing the public transportation and boarding. We would be concentrating on Bus and Metros mostly in our intervention. Through our journey maps, we found that information system, which helps them (PwDs)to navigate at the public bus stops or platforms and while accessing the bus or metro is bitten a difficult and not convenient. In return, information system hampers their daily routine or delay the process of reaching to their workplace or educational institutions.
